Create Connection to the Oracle 11g R2

Prerequisits

 

CubePlayer Oracle OLAP connection requires:

-          preset ODBC data source configured for Oracle driver

-          MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP (Simba)

Please note that Oracle TSN Service Name, User ID and password are required to create

ODBC data source connection based on Oracle driver.


 

Creating ODBC data source

 

ODBC data source is created trough ODBC Data Source Administrator. More information about it is

available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms714024(v=vs.85).aspx.

 

Start creating new connection

 

 

1.       Click application button

2.       Click 'Connection...'

 

 

 

Select Oracle OLAP connection type

 

 

3.       Select 'Oracle OLAP' option.

 


 

Open ODBC Admin

 

 

4.       Click 'ODBC Admin'

 
 

 

 

 

 


Add new Data Source by clicking 'Add...'.

 

 

5.       Click 'ODBC Admin'

 


 

Select Oracle driver (SQLORA32.DLL) and click 'Finish'.

 

 

 

Configure ODBC Data Source.

 

 

6.       Give name to data source

7.       Enter it's description

8.       Select or enter TNS Service Name

9.       Enter User ID that has access rights

10.   Test connection

11.   Click OK

 

 

 

 

Creating Oracle OLAP connection

 

To connect CubePlayer to Oracle OLAP create new connection and define  it as Oracle OLAP connection

by selecting option button 'Oracle OLAP'.

 

 

1.       Select 'Oracle OLAP' option.

 


 

Define server parameters.

 

 

3.       Select ODBC data source name

4.       Enter username and password

5.       Click 'Connect'

 


 

Select catalog (database) that you are going to use to access to the cube.

 

 

7.       Select catalog

8.       Click 'Connect'

 

 


 

Select cube that you will use to make analysis.

10.   Select cube

11.   Click 'Connect'

 

 

 

Name connection and confirm with click on OK to create it.

 

 

13.   Enter unique connection name

14.   Click 'OK'
